Imam Zamin’s Tomb

Description: The tomb of a Sufi saint Imam Muhammad Ali, popularly known as Imam Zamin, is located to the South East of Alai Darwaza. Imam Zamin, a native of Turkistan, came to India during the reign of Sikandar Lodi (1488-1517) and discharged duties in the Quwwat-ul-Islam mosque. It stands on the east of Alai Darwaza. According to an inscription on the entrance, the saint himself built the tomb in 1537-38 C.E. and died only a year later. The tomb is approached through the eastern gateway of Alai Darwaza and is an attractive edifice built in Lodhi style of architecture although it was built during the period of Emperor Humayun’s reign.
