Description: Letters written in a Mahratta Camp during the year 1809. It is a descriptive of the character, manners, domestic habits, and religious ceremonies of the Maharattas by Thomas Duer Broughton. This work is in the form of a series of letters to the author's brother, who seems to have made a presentation to him that, since the war which resulted in the victory of Assaye, a considerable interest in the Mahrattas had been aroused in England, and that the Commander of the Resident's escort was in a position to gratify the natural curiosity of the public.
