Description: This book is a descriptive catalogue with notes on styles, decoration, process of manufacture and ethnological characteristics of Indian and Oriental armour. These pieces were collected formerly in the India Office in London and at the time of publication housed at South Kensington. Its text also includes a military history of India from the invasion of Babur to the fall of the Mughal empire. It was hoped that this catalogue will facilitate a better understanding of Indian and Oriental Armour and push people having specimens in their private collections to take a greater interest in the objects in their possession.
