The book describes the life and character of Nawab Qudsia Begum, who was known to be God fearing, pious, and a virtuous lady of her time. The book takes the reader back to the most stirring and stormy period of Indian history. Qudsia Begum's childhood followed closely on the last invasion into India of the Afghans from the North and the march of the Maharatta armies from the Deccan into Upper India. Her younger days were witness to the advancing power of the East India Company, the defeat of the Maharattas, and the stamping out of the predatory bands of the Pindaras.
