Description: This video is a feature on the model of museums for schools, an initiative of the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM). The objective of the initiative to make science fun and interesting for school children and to take the science museum to schools. The science museums offer the opportunity for interactive and creative play for children with the exhibits in their galleries. With this goal in mind the NCSM designs and prepares science kits for children of various age groups. Each of these kits highlights a particular scientific principle and are meant as supplements to science education. These kits are especially useful in schools where there are no laboratory facilities. The science museums extends their service to science education beyond their four walls as their staff visit schools for science demonstrations and these kits come in handy during such events. These kits are cheaply produced and assembled.
