Description: The video is a presentation on the Museum on Wheels initiative of the Birla Industrial and Technological Museum in Kolkata. The Museums on Wheels are museum buses which visit schools for nine months of the year. The people involved in taking the museums to schools live in the bus for the duration of the programme. These buses are designed and constructed as per the instructions of the museum staff. The buses are built in a central workshop for different science centres across the country. These buses which contain mobile science exhibitions usually go to schools far away from city centres. The exhibits are made in-house and are participatory in nature. There they are received with great enthusiasm. After reaching the school it takes half an hour to set the show up. The children are taught to demonstrate exhibits to their schoolmates and teachers.
