Description: The video is a presentation on the Shilpgram Utsav which was held in December, 2015 at the Shilpgram, the ‘Village of Craft’ in Udaipur, Rajasthan. This festival was inaugurated by the Governor of Rajasthan. The festival was marked by the presentation of many folk performances from the member states of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Goa. The festival goers were enthralled by the performance of traditional dances like the Bhavai dance of Rajasthan where female dancers balance a number of earthen or brass pitchers on their head and the Raas of Gujarat. Also on stage were the folk musicians of the Thar desert, the Manganiars, whose songs of the desert are passed down from generation to generation. A documentary film show on the folk culture was held at Drishyam, the audio-visual theatre at Shilpgram. During the festival, special days were declared as member state days like Maharashtra Diwas or Goa Diwas.
